OUR PROGRAM

Developing elite players takes expertise, commitment, and care at every stage. Discover the programs, principles, and standards that guide Meanstreets.

OUR MISSION & APPROACH

Our mission is to be the best grassroots basketball program in the world. We develop elite players, compete at the highest level, and provide the guidance and support our athletes need at every stage of their basketball journey.

WHAT WE DO

We prepare athletes to succeed at the next level through dedicated player development, purposeful roster construction, and high-level competition. Beyond the court, we help players navigate recruiting, build agency relationships, and understand the opportunities available to them.

Our investment in each athlete extends beyond their time in a Meanstreets uniform. We support their continued growth and help them make informed decisions about their future in the game.

HOW WE DO IT

Attention to detail, professionalism, and consistency guide every aspect of our program. We bring together a world-class facility, an elite coaching staff, and a dedicated professional player development coach at every practice and event.

The strength of those resources comes from our commitment to care and precision. Our coaches and development staff work in close collaboration, with deliberate preparation and a shared commitment to each athlete’s progress. That combination of expertise, resources, and respect for the process defines the Meanstreets approach.

OUR PROGRAMS

Meanstreets offers opportunities for athletes at different stages of their development, from youth basketball to the highest levels of grassroots competition. Each program shares our commitment to quality coaching, player development, and professionalism, with a competitive experience suited to the athletes it serves.

MEANSTREETS EYBL

Meanstreets EYBL represents our highest level of grassroots competition, bringing together elite athletes to compete against the nation’s top programs. Our teams include 13u and 14u Jr EYBL and 15u, 16u, and 17u EYBL.

With a demanding competitive schedule and a dedicated approach to development, this program prepares players for the challenges and opportunities at the next level. Participation requires a significant commitment to training, travel, and team responsibilities.

MEANSTREETS EXPRESS

Meanstreets Express competes on the EYCL circuit alongside our EYBL teams, extending our presence in competitive grassroots basketball and providing more athletes the opportunity to develop and represent Meanstreets.

MS Express combines structured team development with challenging competition. Players are expected to commit to their team’s practice and event schedule and contribute to the standards shared across our program.

MEANSTREETS ACADEMY

Meanstreets Academy serves the next generation of basketball players throughout Chicagoland. Through organized youth travel and AAU teams, camps, and clinics, MS Academy helps young athletes build their skills, learn the game, and develop confidence on the court.

Opportunities range from ongoing team participation to individual camps and clinics, allowing families to choose programming that fits their athlete’s stage of development and level of commitment.

EXPECTATIONS & COMMUNICATION

A strong program requires a shared commitment from coaches, players, and families. Our standards reflect the professionalism, respect, and accountability we believe are essential to competing at a high level and representing Meanstreets.

  • Arrive prepared, be coachable, and approach every practice and game with intention, discipline, and intensity. Take responsibility for your effort, respond constructively to feedback, and find pride in your teammates’ success.

Represent Meanstreets with respect for teammates, coaches, opponents, and officials. Your conduct – on the court, off the court, and online – is part of that responsibility.

  • Help create an environment where athletes can compete, learn, and grow. Support the entire team, respect officials and opponents, and allow coaches to coach.

Keep sideline conduct positive and bring concerns to the appropriate coach directly. The example we set as adults should reflect the composure and respect we ask of our players.

  • Consistent attendance and preparation matter to individual development and team success. Players and families should understand the commitments associated with their team and make every effort to meet them.

Communicate absences, injuries, or scheduling conflicts as early as possible. When circumstances change, timely communication helps coaches plan and support the team.

  • We encourage players to take ownership of their development by speaking directly with their coaches or program leadership when they have questions or concerns. Learning to advocate for themselves is part of their growth, and we are always willing to make time to listen, offer guidance, and talk things through.

Parents should support that process by encouraging their athlete to initiate the conversation first. If a parent feels further involvement is necessary, they should arrange a conversation away from games, events, and practices. All discussions should be respectful, appropriate, and focused on the athlete’s development.
